Laboratory for Fishing Technology and Fishery Engineering

Research fields:

- Fishing gear mechanics, fish shoal behavior, fishing gear material, alternative fishing gear and method.

- Fishing technology in pelagic and polar region .

- Artificial fish reef, facilities for fish farming cage,fishery management.

- Standardization of fishing gear and netting material, measuring technology for netting materials, etc.

The Laboratory has firstly conducted systematical research on technical parameter and the optimal design method for trawlnet. It initiated large L/d ratio spinneret and the new technology of spinning with slow speed cooling on producing fishing monofilament. At present, the laboratory owned the greatest experimental flume tank for test of fishing gear models in China. There is a display room for models of fishing gears and fishing vessels in the laboratory. The laboratory has obtained more than 50 major achievements, 15 of them were awarded prizes at levels of state,province and ministry respectively.
